To test this, I created a restricted profile on my N7 (2012). It is running Lollipop so it isn't a true apples/apples test, but as I don't have a jelly bean device...
In any event, it works for me. CC can connect.
The steps I took:
- Add a security pattern to the main account. This or a password is required to create a restricted profile (as you certainly know).
- Create the restricted profile. Name it "Restricted".
- Allow CC and Moon+ Pro apps. Change nothing else.
- Start CC. Connect. This works because CC gives you a license grace period because the Google servers might take some time to update the license.
- Wait 1 hour for CC's grace period timer to expire.
- In CC's wireless device settings, turn on "Allow 3G". I did this so that I can attempt to connect with WiFi off, meaning the license server checker will be unable to talk to the Google servers and thus fail.
- Turn off WiFi. Attempt to connect. I get the unlicensed error as expected.
- Turn on WiFi. Attempt to connect. It works. No error.
I connected several times to be sure that working wasn't a fluke. I don't know why it doesn't work for you.
One thing: be sure that the tablet has a WiFi connection to the internet. If it does not then the license check will never succeed.
Another thing you can try that might work: switch to the admin account, start CC and connect to calibre. This will cache the "licensed" response for a time. Switch to the restricted account and try to connect. If the license cache is shared between the accounts (I don't know if it is) then connections will work for a time.
As for the other paid apps that work: I don't know why that it. It easily could be that the developer didn't bother with licensing, especially if the app is a high-priority of pirates.
