Must have been quite a sight as you flapped your way down the road!
I have a similar "opens but won't close" problem on icy days with the rear, sliding doors on the minivan. I've learned not to open them!
We now have a footpath all the way up the driveway! Of course, with the sun staying out longer, all it would take is one warm-ish sunny day to make more progress with the ice than I have in the past three days.
