I'm sitting down with a mug of tea after wrestling ice chunks from inside the wheel covers where they had frozen to the wheel, and really threw off the balance. While I was out I also broke up some ice from the driveway.

Ah ... you reminded me of the winter when we had a snow storm followed by freezing rain. I finally chipped open the drivers side door of my VW Rabbit and hopped in to go to work. Unknowst to me, ice chips/chunks had formed inside the door latch assembly - which prevented the door latch from catching firmly - so there I was driving down the road and my car door swung open - I grabbed it and slammed it shut - and it promptly came open again - and I heard what sounded like ice cubes moving around in it - so I began slamming the door shut as hard as I could with my left hand (right hand on the steering wheel) repeatedly until the impact shifted or broke the ice inside the door latch - allowing it to latch firmly onto the door post. Now that was a ride!
