I keep a can of aerosol de-icer in the house - to spray the car locks & doors when they are iced in. Much easier than the old method of heating your car key with a lighter and opening your lock quickly. Which would probably now destroy modern keys with embedded computer chips.

[Blond joke: a co-worker moved here from Georgia and was iced out of her car one winter. I explained the 'heat your car key with a lighter' trick. Her face lit up as she exclaimed: "What a great idea. I'll put a lighter in my glove compartment today!"]
