^^^ yeah I hate the white background too. If you can get a hold of a CM ROM they have theme support now and you can find plenty of dark themes. CM themes are in apps stage so you will run into problems and stuff with white background still.
One thing I like on android over ios is support for dark theme, but Google seems intent on screwing that up with lollipop.
