You mention the Nexus. I have an Android Samsung and with Calibre Companion it sorts by the tag field in Calibre.
My Sony T1 also recognises that field for sorting.
Ironically it is the Kindles that don't and I have to rely on catalogues in that case. I am new around here but I gather it was the PW and clouding that introduced the problem.
