I had it plugged in for maybe 30 minutes, the computer wasn't recognizing it and it kept flashing green and blue.

After I removed the back cover and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes then reconnected and put the cover back I reconnected with thekobo usb cable and it still flashed green and blue, wouldn't recognize the kobo and would not come out of power off.

Connecting to the usb outlet to the wall plug through my usb phone cable did the trick indeed.

Was that a tip in the tips and tricks? If it was, I missed it. If it isn't? It should be put in.

I'm not exactly sure what the flashing green and blue light is, but I think it means your battery is too low and you need to plug your kobo into a usb wall plug charger. Not sure it will work for everyone but perhaps it should be in the list of things to try if it isn't.
