Senator by Philip K. Dick Award-finalist Richard Bowker (
ISFDB,
Wikipedia) is his standalone retro political suspense thriller (non-sfnal) centred around a murder mystery and the ensuing titular politician vs killer hunt, free courtesy of publisher ePublishing Works! (exclamation mark theirs), who are e-printing it from its 1994 hardcover edition originally out from HarperCollins' William Morrow imprint.
Technically, this has previously been offered free sometime in 2012, but it doesn't seem to have gotten mentioned on MR and ePW! books mostly tend not to repeat (or they do it over a period of several years), so I'm just going to treat it as a new freebie for the purposes of the daily thread count, since the author is kind of sfnal and this has a fair amount of quoted editorial review praise from various newspaper outlets.

Incidentally, another old-school political thriller of Bowker's, an 80s-era near-future sci-fi technothriller, is just coming off its freebie-ization, but can still be picked up in selected stores and regions which haven't changed the price yet if you missed it earlier:
