Press first of all back button then press power button keeping pressed back button, and wait for a while, it worked on my M96 that I received a week ago from ereader-store.de seller, if you bought your devices through other seller maybe the recovery system was different.

Last operational update.zip for M96 is: http://www.ereader-store.de/DATA/M96/Archive/update.zip

I've never tried on my M96 the Booxtor recovering bricked for T68. But maybe it could work if you replace the update.zip included in the package by the last for M96.
