I didn't know that plugboards couldn't do comments until I looked. I just checked and calibre
does fill epub comments (dc:description) with the calibre comments field when sending files. HTML vs plain text is a good point.
I don't think any of my ebook readers use comments, so I've never looked before. That's why I put tags, etc in the title--title and author are the only fields
all of my different ebook readers--devices and programs--have used.
