I've been saying (ever since reading about Readers in pockets) that it's a very bad idea to put your Reader in any pocket. You could be bumped, you could unknowingly sit on it, could twist it, and in general, put more stress on it then you should.

Sony won't be covering this under warranty as it is a broken screen from having been kept in a pocket. You'll have to talk to Sony and see if they can do anything for you. But as for the warranty, it's toast.
