i think i'm using all the same columns, but i can't really double check until next week. i was just going to use save to disk to save everything as complete or in progress and then add them to my sister's computer, then when i go home for good (which won't be until next year) i'll update the libraries on my mac.
So, the purpose of this is to allow you to make changes while away from your computer and not lose them when you get home?

If you have a backup of the library on the portable hard drive, just copy that complete to your sisters computer. Then point calibre at it and do your maintenance. When you are ready to leave (or your sister kicks you out - my sisters would be dropping hints after about a month), copy the library back to the hard drive and move it back to the main computer at home. If the starting copy was complete, you simply replace the one on your computer. If it isn't, then you need to sort out the differences. And as it's going to be a year, I think the library you have with you now is the one you should consider to be the primary library.

And yes, I'm telling you to procrastinate. "Never put off until tomorrow what you can delay to the day after".
