Before returning the reader as defective I'd be absolutely certain first that it's not a case of her thumb or finger slightly being over the edge of the frame. When I was trying to press around the edges to see if I could trigger a page turn, it finally did but I realized that my thumb was every so slightly touching the screen. Barely touching, but that's all it takes to do a page turn. And especially if it happens while she's starting to fall asleep and getting drowsy, it's very easy to touch the screen and not be aware of it.
