To turn pages you can either touch the screen or swipe it. Didn't you read the guide that came with the device?

Well, since the OP specifically stated that his mother was NOT making contact with the screen, I would say the manual -- and whether or not the OP (or his mother) have read it -- is a moot point. (Unless there's something hidden there that says squeezing the bezel will turn the page.)

Sounds like some kind of short. If it was me, I would look into getting the PW replaced. I'm guessing it will get worse.
