An alternative way if you are not using nickel is to disable the KoboTouch driver in calibre. Then use "Connect to folder". That will prompt for the folder to treat as a device. You can use any folder on the device. Calibre will then scan the folder looking for books. I assume this will also need USB support enabled in the KSM menu, but, as I don't use KSM, I'm not sure.
The advantage of this for non-nickel users is that the KoboTouch reads the database on the device to get what books are on it. If you don't use nickel, the database won't be populated and calibre will not show any books on the device. Using "Connect to folder" means calibre can find the books on the device.

Thanks a lot for this hint. It makes it a lot easier. I had installed all the Kobo driver and after that Calibre did not recognise my hidden folder on Kobo. So I had to create a folder on my PC and synchronise Calibre with this folder after that I had to synchrone this folder via a synchronisation software with my hidden folder on Kobo, it functioned - this software did detect my hidden folder on Kobo - but it was a bit more complicated than your proposal. So in fact after enabling the Kobo driver everything works well!!!
