Gtrs, it is my understanding that for years survivalism was sold on the basis that American society would collapse if too many Americans decided not to work.
Now I understand the sales pitch to be far different - that too much of our infrastructure is linked to each other throughout the country. It may be easy for a few agents of a foreign power to shut down our electricity or gasoline supply nationwide with just a few bombs placed in key locations.
Personally, I've never been enthusiastic about any of the scenarios that have been laid out. But as a former Boy Scout who was taught "Be Prepared," I have *never* trusted those who say "It can't happen here."
