Probably, but how many times you would you need to do it? I would expect that powering off, going and making a cup of coffee and powering on again when you return would use more power than sleep for the same time. And I think it would use more than an hour of sleep. But, I don't know what the break even point would be. Personally, the "instant on" nature of opening the cover and reading makes up for any extra battery usage during sleep.
