Can anyone advise?
You could try converting to HTMLZ, unpack that with an archive utility and drop the HTML file you'll find there into a browser and get the one of the online translators (Google, Bing, WorldLingo, Babylon etc) to get a rough and ready translation into English.

Then you could save the resultant HTML and use it to reconstruct the book.

Could be a lot of work and the result may not be very useful, if its a literary work then the translation will be awful.

I'd contact the Russian publishers and ask if they know of a professional English translation. If it's an older work (late 19th early 20th century) then sometimes one can find a French translation of Russian literary works. How's your French ?
