I have never managed to get the iOS and Marvin plugins to work with my iPad and iPhone and Calibre so have given up.
All I do is drag and drop in iTunes. In iTunes select your device and then apps scroll down to Marvin open a Windows explorer window on my Calibre library folder browse to the author and just drag and drop the epub from there to the iTunes window. Works every time. I have calibre set up to auto convert any mobi books to epub on import so the epub is always available for Marvin.
