Strange! Last time it did not work even without the update. Right?

If you like we could try something:
  • copy start_nickel_test.sh (of the uploaded archive) to .kobo/kbmenu/scripts
  • eject the reader and disable usb
  • select "scripts > start nickel test.sh"

You should find in .kobo\kbmenu\log a log file start_nickel_test.log. Please post it.
