Answering a bit late, but it's probably an accessibility option. Back in my old job, we used to make handouts available on sepia, light pink and light green paper, because some students with specific learning disabilities found it much easier to read and comprehend text on slightly colored backgrounds. One staff member had tinted lenses for reading for the same reason.
