What percentage of the estate of a deceased person, the State gets, literally depends upon the local laws. Local custom dictates what percentage the lawyers get. (It is utterly amazing how many legal issues are solved, once the money to pay the lawyers dries up. What is even more amazing, is that the solution is always congruent with whoever started out with the most money designated to pay the legal bills.)
