Isn't this the same thing as binge-watching video? I am buying a lot more backlist ebooks-I find and author I like, and after I finish one book, I look immediately online for another. Before ebooks, that would have had to wait for my next trip to the bookstore, by which time I probably would have been distracted by something else, and have forgotten all about it.
