You have one of the (System) reasons why 2.x is locked out of XP installs.

If your hardware is up to it (CPU w/SSE2, RAM=4G+). W7 or Linux. If not, Off lease business class W7(x64) systems can be had for ~$300

BTW FWIW I have one of the XP ones that does run 2.0 (I do get editor rare Editor crashes), but as you know, there will be no updates (currently down 15 releases). My main Library is on W7pro (one of those off lease systems )
