I have actually converted books bought from Amazon to mobi...mostly because of bad formatting. I don't have the time to dig through an ebook to find out how to "fix" it...especially since 99 times out of 100 just converting to mobi will fix it. To me, there is nothing "superior" about AZW3 - the only thing it seems to do is allow authors and publishers to try to do things to the fonts and paragraphs that aren't needed, and can sometimes make it so that I have a harder time reading.
