It's an historical account of the first expedition across the American West by Lewis and Clarke. It is (IMO) very well written and includes a lot of quotes from both Lewis' and Clarke's contemporary journals and background information about the time (early 19th Century).
If you're a fan of consistent, correct spelling, the contemporary journals might drive you mad, but for me, they add character to the tale.
