Encountered the black blank box on the fire hdx but using the sent android Moon+ 3.03. I appear to me that it only happens when I use the Moon+'s brightness control bar to lower/raise the brightness; i.e. the visual control > more options(?) > brightness. The box goes away when not touching the screen.
Haven't seen the black box on any other options I've used.
