I think my favorite book from last year was The Rosie Project, because I read it during last winter's "polar vortex" and it really cheered me up. My other favorite was a re-read (so I don't know if that counts): Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I plan on reading more of her books this year.
I only read three books that were published in 2014 and the best was The Bone Clocks. I had some problems with it but overall it was well worth the read.
Honorable Mention: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Gaiman, The Golem and the Jinni by Wecker.
