The lesson I learned is that Kobo Slow easily provokes maneuvers that may corrupt the internal SD card. In the end my Kobo Slow did not mount on the computer when connected and upon pressing the restet button blinked screen twice and powered itself off. Copying the provided disk image solved those problems.
