One thing with your description is that I wonder if you inserted the card properly. There's been at least one report where someone went through these steps and it didn't work. They opened it again and discovered the card hadn't been pushed all the way in. Once it was pushed completely in, it worked perfectly.
It booted up until the part where I am already downloading updates via WIFI then it says "Network Error" then it went blank (totally blank as if no power) but the Glowlight can be turned on and off. I took the SD card out, reinserted it properly, clicked reset, but the blank didn't go away. So I took it out again, but this time I re-inserted the old SD Card, clicked reset, then it booted up fine.

I might try Ken's idea of using SanDisk instead of Transcend though, I will have to get one first.
