Of course. Being free is an advantage, if the rest is acceptable. Not to say that paying a developer for its work is bad, if his work is what we prefer, on the other hand.

Oh, but I don't. Nothing I can stand less. I use Total Commander, Windows version of glorious midnight commander. Yes, it's payware, but it's worth every dime, and has verious tools available, to use which I don't have to lift fingers from the keyboard, just like cygwin. But I see your point: if you do extensive work all on Unix, using cygwin on Windows has its advantages for sure.

I'm thinking what I could write about that is even more off topic, but nothing comes to my mind, so I will stop here.
