Shame on you for shaming me, eschwartz! I have not one, but two trusty XP computers; one a now-10+-year-old Lenovo Thinkpad, and a desktop box that just refuses to die, but has a motherboard that precludes updating/upgrading it. My own personal desktop is a Win7 box; my personal laptop is a Win8 new Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga (love it!). I thought I would find the new touch-type interface confusing, but I guess I've spent so many hours sitting at my desktop with a device of whatever kind in my hands, going back and forth between typing and flipping/sliding/tapping that it comes utterly naturally to me.

Vis-à-vis editors: you know, I relayed a story--I think it was here--about a guy on the K forums that went apes**t on me, called me a liar on those for a, for saying we code in html editors. Said only crazy or incompetent people do that, that "everyone" uses an HTML editor like whats-it, um...Dreamweaver, or MSExpressionWeb or one of those GUI/WYSIWYG editors. I've never actually used one of those; not on principle, but just...the first guy that really taught me ePUBs, after I taught myself MOBI (yeah, verily, back in the mobipocket days), used NoteTab Pro...so I used that. Loved it. Then another guy who has moved on used Epsilon. And yes, wowza, that sucker has some juice, so I use that. I understand, from my crew chief that's actually a real-live programmer that it does stuff that's way beyond what I use it for. It is, after all, an eMacs, um...homage, for lack of a better word?

Anyway, I digress: my point is this: the "right" editor is the one you use. It's the one that gets the work done for you. It's what makes your life easy. Ditto OS's, really. {shrug}. So, while I'm perfectly willing to slug out any number of topics, flaming over editors or OS's...not really my thing. :-)
