The Kindle Fires are just Android tablets actually, with a slightly modified Kindle reader app. The tools can't import books from them because of that.
They will work on larger files, I just tried converting the 145MB
The Stories: Five Years of Original Fiction on Tor.com and it did it fine, took it over six minutes though.
