You are absolutely correct. But it isn't the money that is the problem. It is the insanity of paying for a book only to add it to my hundreds of other unread books.
What do you suppose it is about ebooks that triggers a hoarding instinct? Paper books never grabbed me in the same way because I live nomadically and hate clutter. While I appear to live a life of simplicity and minimalism, I own enough digital books to win me a spot on Hoarders if they were paper.
The hoarding instinct did not kick in for months after buying my first ereader. In fact, it was MR and Calibre that revealed to me the joys of buying ebooks. Wouldn't give up either.
