i dunno, maybe i'm not sufficiently paranoid, but a week non-stop with no issues is fine by me. all my devices charge to 100% overnight and stay charged. besides, the devices have their own internal charging circuit that regulates things even further. sometimes i charge by connecting to a PC's USB port, other times to the car charger. so far, i have more issues with cables wearing out (or being unofficial Apple cables) than the USB cubes.
do you think that the chargers that kobo / kindle / etc include in the box are top-shelf items with MIL-Spec internals that have gone though extensive burn-in? c'mon - we both know they're whatever is good enough and cheap enough so that the box you buy at the store isn't priced to the point that you won't buy it at all. once you stick a brand like Apple on it, the markup is easily 800%.
bottom line - connect it to whatever you trust, be it a PC or a $20 cube or a $3 cube.
