I'll admit I haven't read though this extensive thread, so I don't know if these suggestions have been made yet. ALSO, both my wife and I have Kindle Basic 7th gens, but the covers I am going to comment on are also available for the Voyager and I'd think they would be pretty much the same.

I find that Amazon wants to direct you to EXPENSIVE cases (for obvious reasons and, strangely , heavily reviewed by VINE VOICES) but there are many better and much cheaper case options if you search.

Fintie Kindle Voyage SmartShell Case
This is the Voyager version. My wife has the Kindle Basic version, which she is very happy with. There are a number of other cases available that are very similar to this, such as the OMOTON and the ACcover brands. This is not my wife's first Kindle.

WAWO Premium PU Leather Folio Case
WAWO has two different cases. This link is to the Kindle Basic version of the one that I purchased. This is my first Kindle and while I like my wife's Fintie case, I felt a case with a hand strap on the back would be an advantage for one-handed reading. My wife says she is able to do this with the Fintie, but I foresee my hand cramping trying to hold the book and turn the pages with one hand, so the strap seems a great advantage to me. As far as the case itself, it costs less than the Fintie, the Fintie is thinner, stiffer and more 'enclosing', the Fintie has an Auto On/Off feature and the WAWO does not (personally, I don't think I like Auto On/Off), the Fintie cover is more hard plastic feeling where the WAWO cover is more faux leather feeling (with a cushioned front cover). I find the closure magnet on the WAWO slightly weaker than I'd prefer (though if necessary, the strap that would normally be used to hold it OPEN could be used to hold it CLOSED). So far, I am glad I purchased this cover over the Fintie.

Now, the strange thing about the WAWO cover is that the Voyager version of the cover I purchased DOES NOT have the strap. The other WAWO cover, which does not have a strap for the Kindle Basic, DOES for the Voyager. That is this case: Amazon Kindle Voyage E-reader Case - WAWO. While I don't have this version of the case, at least from the look of it, I think I prefer the way the Kindle is held in the case in this version than the version I have.

It's worth noting that the WAWO cases are Amazon Prime sold by Wawo and fulfilled by Amazon and it specifies "Free Returns", so I believe if you don't like the cover, you could return it for free.
