Audio books are a 'Performance' with performers (1 or more).
As with any 'Performance' YMMV, but almost any done other than by the Author are usually quite good.

IMHO avoid TTS (recordings), you are stuck with 'As Delivered' .

Pronunciation is the first to suffer.

Some TTS engines allow customization of voice (pitch) and speed
