Seriously!

NinjaMorph in Google Play Store.
  1. First off all, you need a 16-bit, 1200 by 825 pixel, grayscale image (landscape mode).
  2. Transfer it to the internal memory, /sdcard.
  3. Then use NinjaMorph to replace /system/framework/framework-res.apk/assets/images/standby-1.bmp, 2 & 3 with your favorite images in the above format.
  4. The folder/file name text color is hard to see, just sort of select the first entry & use a downward dragging motion to select them, now the names are visible.
  5. NinjaMorph will create a backup of the original framework-res file for you.
  6. Say no to zipaligning, not sure whether it would work out or not.
  7. Once done, click finish project & select the folder, not the framework file.
  8. Tested working on my M96.
