While there are quite a few that I would put on my favorites list, I don't think I remember anyone having their <b>first</b> favorite after book four.
For me it just seemed to be a succession of "Harry meets a really scary supernatural threat. Harry finds a way of defeating the threat. Harry meets another really scary supernatural threat. Harry finds another way of defeating it." etc. etc.

They're very well-written books. Just not to my personal taste. I know that most people really enjoy them .
