So, it is not only "light emitting" reading devices that are bad for pre-sleep reading, but electronic books themselves. I would call that egregious overstating.

The study specified light emitting devices. The researchers didn't write the headline, and the person who wrote the article probably didn't either. Don't make the mistake of damning them for the actions of a headline-writer.
