My Fire HD doesn't disconnect like that, so I can't provide suggestions other than for you to check that your fire's memory is not full. CC will disconnect if it cannot write to memory.

The exception only says that the device went away. It doesn't say why. I might be able to learn more if you provide debug logs. What would be best is for you to:
  1. Start calibre in debug mode. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=10 for instructions.
  2. Attempt to connect CC as a wireless device.
  3. If the connect succeeds (not sure given your edit), switch calibre to the device view. If the connect doesn't succeed, skip the next step.
  4. Wait for the disconnect.
  5. Close calibre. You will get the debug log in a window. Save it somewhere.
  6. Send a CC debug log (CC settings, scroll to the bottom) and the calibre debug log you saved above to me at cc_debug_logs at charles dot haleys dot org.
