Yeah, I kind of wondered that since I don't see any way to actually get 42 even mixing up the order of the operations.
I love the introduction to the first book where he goes into an elaborate story about this woman and gets you involved, then says "but this isn't her story"... Sort of sets the tone for the rest of the series.
