FREE - More Ghost Stories of an Antiquary

The Christmas e-book from EbookClassics.org.uk is More Ghost Stories of an Antiquary by M.R. James.

From their mailing list posting:

Quote:
MONTAGUE RHODES JAMES (1862-1936) was a mediaevalist scholar and expert on New Testament apocrypha. In the course of a distinguished career, he was Provost of King’s College, Cambridge, director of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and Provost of Eton College. Outside academic circles, though, he is best known as a teller of ghost stories, most of which he wrote to entertain his students at Christmas. His predecessors favoured lurid hauntings in gothic settings, but James preferred to place his demons in everyday surroundings, his aim being to give his reader the feeling that ‘if I am not very careful, something of this kind may happen to me…’

More Ghost Stories of an Antiquary (1911) was his second collection. It can be downloaded from http://www.ebookclassics.org.uk/james_mr.htm

Have a chilling Christmas.
