Many of us though do find it more useful to use a template like
{series:|:|}{series_index:0>3s|:|}{title:|:|}
as opposed to
{series_index:0>3s|:|}{title:|:|}{series:|:|}

This allows a "natural" sorting to be done on the device, since all books in a given series will be arranged in their logical order on the device.
@PeterT - AFAIK the only contribution to the thread that BR has made was a) to move it out of the PI subforum and b) this post.

Had BR written anything about colons in file names he would have asked the OP which OS was being used, and if the reply was Windows he wouldn't have forgotten to mention the use of the ':' as the separator betwixt file and alternate data stream names - much more interesting than there use wrt to devices

But the reason he didn't ask, was because he noticed the OP had a Kindle, about which BR freely admits he's Sergeant Schultz, but I'm reliably informed that one doesn't see file names in Bezos' walled garden

Happy Christmas

BR
