I don't know. My 80-some year old Dad installed Linux Mint 13 on his own and seems to be able to maintain it pretty well -- with an occasional call to me for scanner issues, etc. Honestly I get fewer support calls from him than I do from my wife and kids -- and my extended family -- who are all using Windows.
