Who knew finding a screwdriver small enough to open the battery compartment would prove so tricky

It was indeed the battery, I've taken to using the Nokia 61xx hack to sort it (a little foam pad to fill the dead space and stop the battery moving about).

Thanks to all for the help (and sorry for not putting it in the correct section).
