The *ONLY* time video is preferable to text and pictures for a tutorial is when a particular sequence of hand or tool movements must be learnt to perform a particular task or some action must be performed at a specific moment depending on the observed behaviour of the device. Even so, its best presented as a short multimedia clip (<2 mins) within a traditional tutorial.
