I'm not sure this is what you are looking for, if not, it might give you some ideas. I use Pocket with my Kobo to read short-stories/articles/essays from author's websites, online magazines, and publisher's blogs. Some of my favorite sources include:

Tor.com Short Fiction
Beneath Ceaseless Skies Magazine
Clarkesworld Magazine
Lightspeed Magazine
Subterranean Press Magazine

Pocket doesn't permanently save content, unless you have a Premium account, if the original webpage changes or is deleted the content will be lost. I created a Pocket feed in Calibre to save an offline/backup ePub copy of my articles (instructions available at Pocket.com). Now, I don't have to worry about my favorite stories disappearing.

I love having Pocket on my Kobo, it's a perfect match! Hope this helps get you started, happy reading!
