It's a function of viewing distance. You can find charts online that specify reasonable screen sizes for a given viewing distance.

I'd love a 90 incher for my family room, but it would take over the room.
70" is about the right size for that wall. Good thing they've gotten affordable.
My sister is looking at 42 inchers but I'm trying to get her to go 55. It is less than $100 extra and at her viewing distance it'll be equivalent to a 70.
