Lightbulb Free (Kindle) Gettysburg: Story of the Battle w/ Maps [US Civil War Military History]

Gettysburg: The Story of the Battle with Maps by The Editors of Stackpole Books is an educational military history guide to Exactly What It Says In The Title, with handy illustrations making clear just what was going on when and where during one of the key battles of the US Civil War, free courtesy of publisher Stackpole, who hopefully are beginning a trend of offering us their quality non-fiction freebies again after a long hiatus.

This is really quite nifty, with sporty instant-replay-style circles, arrows, and underlinings letting you see exactly how all the action played out, along with the textual facts and commentary.

Currently free @ Amazon UK (likely slated to drop in the main store after midnight Pacific Time, as Stackpole freebies used to regularly do; unlikely to show up in other stores, as they never did, though I will note that they are couponable @ Kobo if anything in their catalogue particularly catches your eye).

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Not least because it's clearly the neatest of several neat books that popped up recently, but also because it marks the return (hopefully) of one of my favourite of the official promo-freebie-giving publishers to regularly officially giving promo freebies again.

Enjoy!

Description
70 color maps and insightful text tell the hour-by-hour story of the 3-day Battle of Gettysburg.

Each map shows the same 3 1/2-by-4 1/2-mile view of the battlefield, allowing the reader to visualize the battle as it developed over the entire area, including key engagements, troop movements and positions, and locations of commanders. Sheds new light on important events such as the first clash west of town on July 1, the fighting for Cemetery Hill, the defense of Little Round Top, Pickett's Charge, and more.

Crystal-clear maps and narrative make this an ideal introduction for newcomers while the unique approach offers fresh perspectives for those who've read every book on the battle. Perfect companion for battlefield visits and armchair-general debates.
